Dexter’s Work Is Never Done

The US Show employs interesting promo techniques around the world
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Season 3 of Dexter is still months away from debuting here in the US but season 2 of the show is about to launch in other parts of the world. Here are a few examples of some of the guerrilla advertising techniques that are being employed to promote the show in Lisbon, Portugal:

Hahahahaha … I love it! This is such a great way to promote such an awesome show. I wonder if this sort of thing would be possible here in the US. I really feel like we may be so uptight that people might be offended and complain if they found “dead” people lying around on the street … sheesh, go figure. Click HERE to watch a short video of another bit of guerrilla advertising for the show that went down in Portugal. I love Dexter … I think it has to be my fave dramatic program. If you’ve not see the show, I highly recommend that you check it out … it’s effing brills! Bone up now, season 3 debuts on Showtime on September 28!

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Here are a couple pics of Justin Timberlake as he made his way out of the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, France yesterday morning:

JT is in town to launch a new male fragrance by Givenchy which he is the spokesmodel for … but managed to shop everywhere else except at Givenchy. Justin was spotted doing a bit of shopping at Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. I’m sure the people of France are very appreciative that JT is doing his part to help out the French economy ;)

Aaron Eckhart Does ‘Men’s Health’ Magazine

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Aaron Eckhart, who stars as Harvey Dent (who eventually becomes supervillain Two Face) in next month’s Batman sequel The Dark Knight, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new August issue of Men’s Health magazine … take a look:

Now see, Aaron Eckhart is one of those hot men that is classically handsome in that “guy next door” sort of way. He’s got a great smile which makes him look approachable and Hollywood good looks that will take him far in the biz. I am very happy that he has been cast in the new Batman franchise. Like Christian Bale in the lead role, I am very much looking forward to many years ahead of seeing Eckhart on the big screen in future Batman movies.

Britney Spears Wins Overnight Visitation With Her Kids

Laura Wasser does her job well
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Earlier today Britney Spears, armed with her once-estranged lawyer Laura Wasser, faced off with Kevin Federline, armed with his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, in family court seeking a change in visitation rights with her children. Spears showed up in court to ask Commissioner Gordon to grant her overnight visitation with her sons Sean Preston and and Jayden James … and she won! Altho, US Weekly (who managed to get a quote from Britney as she exited the courthouse) reports that Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini was not “at liberty” to discuss the change, TMZ is reporting that Britney won her overnight visits:

Britney Spears was granted a change in her visitation schedule with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James at a hearing Tuesday. “There was a change in visitation status that was ordered by Commissioner Gordon this morning,” Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson Alan Parachini confirmed after the hearing, which both Kevin Federline and her father (and co-conservator) Jamie Spears attended. (Britney and Kevin did not address each other during the hearing.) The details of her visitation, however, are unclear. “I’m not at liberty to answer any questions about the nature of that change,” Parachini said … Asked by Us if she were happy with the court outcome, Spears (clutching an Ed Hardy purse) smiled and told Us, “Yes.” Next up: A status hearing set for July 15.

But according to TMZ: Sources tell us Brit Brit, who has been slowly gaining visitation back inch by inch, has made such progress the Commish agreed in court today she’s ready to have sons Jayden James and Sean Preston with her overnight. We hear Britney’s parenting coach Lisa Hacker was at the hearing today, and answered several questions from the Commish. Britney, who was all business in the courtroom, smiled as she left the courthouse.

Woot! Clearly, Laura Wasser is worth her weight in gold. She is an amazing attorney so this win for Britney is not a surprise to me. I’m happy that Brit has made such great strides in proving to the court that she is capable of caring for her children again. Her life is well back on track … it won’t be long until she’s 100% back to her good ol’ self again. Biggest comeback in history, it’s gonna happen.

Has The Beckham Bulge Been Enhanced?

Has Becks been Stuff'd?
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Far be it for me to besmirch David Beckham’s good name and the good name of his bulge which he is currently promoting in the name of Armani Underwear but the question has been asked and I feel there is evidence to be inspected and scrutinized to judge for ourselves … was David Beckham’s package enhanced in those sexy new Armani Underwear ads? MSNBC by way of The Daily Mail suggests that a side-by-side comparison of Beckham’s bulge back in 2006 with his bulge today, in 2008, shows a marked difference in … well, bulgeness … which leads some to believe there was manipulation of some sort done to Becks’s bulge to make it seem more ample. Let’s take a look:

The latest Emporio Armani underwear ads show David Beckham in all his glory, but rumor has it the soccer star may have had some help filling out his tighty-whities. The “enhancement” buzz started shortly after a 100-foot tall image of David wearing the famous undies made its debut at Macy’s in San Francisco earlier this week, and some found David’s form too good to be true. That’s when sleuths at the Daily Mail uncovered a photo of Becks on the beach sporting a similar look. The surfside shot, taken in 2006, features the L.A. Galaxy player in a white bikini with one notable difference from the Armani pics — the fabric appears less, um, inflated. The paper offered a side-by-side comparison and speculated that the difference could be the result of digital manipulation, but a spokesperson for David denies the claim. “There wasn’t any enhancement to that said region,” the rep insisted.

Interesting … back in 2006, David Beckham famously donned a pair of white Speedos while chilling on Roberto Cavalli’s private yacht as he vacationed on the Italian Coast. While he looks pretty damn amazing in those little white shorts, his bulge is noticeably smaller than the one we see today. HMM. What could possibly be the cause? If only there was another photo of Becks’s bulge to compare these pics with …

‘Bash’d’ In NYC

The TV Guide
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Yesterday, David and I did everything that we could to stay out of the balmy NYC humidity … that is, until we had to venture out into the world to attend the opening night performance of a new off-Broadway musical called Bash’d. Actually, Bash’d is described as a “gay rap opera” … so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. In the end, it was exactly what you might guess a gay rap opera to be like — funny, clever, poignant and surprisingly serious in tone:

BASH’d! chronicles the tale of Jack and Dillon; two star-crossed lovers who must cope with the reality of hatred when one is brutally beaten. It is told entirely through rap, spoken word and poetry, turning the often-homophobic musical genre on its ear. Even though the topic is serious, the musical is high energy, irreverent, and provocative.

As the show got started and I realized that the entire show would be performed in verse, I feared that the writing might suffer and that I would lose interest in what was going on … nothing could’ve been further from the truth. The raps were totally non-stop and the actors, Chris Craddock and Nathan Cuckow, deftly delivered their lines with impressive speed and enunciation. I was sure that one or both of them would fumble a line somewhere along the way but neither one did … it was very, very impressive. The story starts out cute and humorous and then turns serious, sad and ends very powerfully. The performers did an excellent job of connecting with the audience … I know I was left with my mouth agape by the performance. Because the story deals with a gay bashing in Canada, the show ends with a litany of some of the gay victims who lost their lives due to violent assault. It was very sobering to hear how long the list of names was. I should also mention that Bash’d proudly supports the Anti-Violence Project, which is the largest LGBT community-based anti-violence program in the US and is the coordinator of the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Projects. The show turned out not to be at all what I expected … I’m very glad that David and I got to see it. Much love goes out to Shane and The Zipper Factory (where the show is having its run) for taking such great care of us last night.

After the show, David and I grabbed a quick bit to eat at Alta and then called it a night. I think we’re lying low tonight as well … it’s nice just being able to spend time together :)
