Well, more like sit on her mommy's lap and look adorable
Harlow Winter Comes Out To Play

Harlow Winter Madden made a rare appearance this weekend surfacing with her proud mama Nicole Richie as they visited with friends over the weekend. Here are a couple superadorable pics of Nicole and Harlow … lookin’ as precious as can be:

Yeah, there ain’t no denying that Joel Madden is this little girl’s daddy. She looks exactly like him … there is just too much cuteness going on here. It’s hard to believe that this little girl has grown so much in the past few months … next thing you know she’s gonna be walking and talking … then singing with the Good Charlotte boys. It’ll happen sooner than you think.

Nine Inch Nails Rehearse ‘1,000,000’

Trent Reznor updated the official Nine Inch Nails website with a new video of the band doing a live rehearsal of the song 1,000,000:

Woot! The vid looks great! I love the spartan look of the rehearsal space and the guys sound amazing. The Lights in the Sky Tour is just about a month away from getting underway in Vancouver, BC and I couldn’t be more excited. I hope that Trent unveils more video like this to whet our appetites ahead of the tour kickoff on July 25. Enjoy the vid!

UPDATE: Via pitchfork.tv, this video is the first of 3 rehearsal vids that have been recorded and will be shared online. Love it!!

Designer unimpressed with 'SaTC' movie
Vivienne Westwood Is No Fan Of ‘Sex’

Anyone who has seen the Sex and the City Movie would prolly imagine that famed designer Vivienne Westwood is a fan of movie since she is heavily name-checked in a pivotal portion of the film. But, Westwood spoke to San Francisco Chronicle and revealed that not only is she not a fan of the whole Sex and the City fashion phenomenon but she was so dissatisfied with the movie that she left 10 minutes into the film’s premiere:

Legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is not a fan of “Sex and the City: The Movie,” branding the film’s fashion styling uninspiring and “quite dull.” The designer, 67, is name-checked in the film and even created a dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker’s fashionista character Carrie. But Westwood insists she was far from impressed with stylist Patricia Field’s work on the big-screen adaptation of the hit TV series. She says, “I thought ‘Sex and the City’ was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw. “I went to the premiere and left after 10 minutes.”

Yowch! I had no idea that Westwood felt this way about the movie. As I said, anyone who has seen the film (once or, say, thrice) was prolly under the impression that Westwood was a big fan of SaTC … especially considering the way her name and her fabulous dress was featured in the film. I can’t imagine that SaTC stylist Patricia Field is very happy to hear Vivianne Westwood dissing her work. Who knows what it was exactly that set Vivianne Westwood off … maybe it was the belt?

She may need a wheelchair in a month?
Amy Winehouse Has Emphysema, Father Reveals

Mitch Winehouse, father of the troubled UK singer Amy Winehouse, revealed to the UK newspaper The Sunday Mirror over the weekend that his daughter is suffering from early stage emphysema due to her fondness for smoking “crack cocaine and cigarettes” and may be relegated to a wheelchair “within a month” if she does not heed the warnings of her doctors. This discovery was made after Amy finally succumbed to hospital treatment after collapsing in her home early last week. Here are pics of Mitch escorting Amy to one of her many visits to rehab before finally going to the hospital to undergo tests last Monday:

The troubled singer Amy Winehouse, right, has early stage emphysema as a result of smoking crack cocaine and cigarettes and may need an oxygen mask to breathe if she cannot stop, her father told a British newspaper, The Sunday Mirror, in an interview. Ms. Winehouse, 24, was taken to the hospital last Monday after a collapse and underwent tests last week. “The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won’t just ruin her voice, it will kill her,” her father, Mitch Winehouse, said. Mr. Winehouse, who said his daughter also had an irregular heartbeat, added that focusing on her work has sometimes helped her to stay away from drugs, and that had she not performed recently in Moscow and Portugal, “she could have been dead by now.” Ms. Winehouse is scheduled to sing on Friday at a London concert celebrating the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela and also plans to take part in the Glastonbury music festival on Saturday.

Daddy Winehouse gave an exclusive interview with The Sunday Mirror this weekend where he opened up about his daughter’s health and his hopes that she will finally work towards taking her health seriously …

The Beckham Bunch Visit Alcatraz

David Beckham and the family made the most of their time in San Francisco, CA this past week. Not only were Becks and the crew (Vicki B., Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz Beckham) in town for the unveiling of his massive new mural on the Macy’s department store in Union Square but they were also in town for a little rest and relaxation. Taking full advantage of their time in town, Becks took the fam for a day trip visit to Alcatraz prison … here are a couple of pics:

They’re used to luxury surrounds, but the Beckham children got a education in hard living during a visit to Alcatraz yesterday. Victoria and David took their sons Brooklyn, nine, Romeo, seven, and Cruz, three, to the notorious prison, which once housed crime boss Al Capone. Posh, as usual, was overdressed for the occasion, tottering around The Rock in towering wedges and a blue mini dress. She flew into San Francisco to join her husband after his launch of his new Armani underwear campaign.

Way to fuel those Wentworth Miller-inspired prison fantasies, eh? I gotta say … I just love it when Les Beckhams partake in very “touristy” outings like this. When they are home in LA, the family goes about their days just like regular Los Angelinos do … trips to Pink Taco at Century City, The Grove and T.G.I.Friday’s in Woodland Hills show that they enjoy the same things that regular folk do. When they visit other US cities, the family does tend to get into the tourist spirit of things. It’s cute. This is a side of the family that I love to see. The normal side.

Comedian George Carlin Passes Away At 71

Very sad news to report this morning … famed comedian George Carlin passed away yesterday at the age of 71 due to heart failure. According to his publicist, Carlin (who had just worked a Las Vegas show last weekend) complained of chest pains yesterday afternoon before going to a hospital in Santa Monica, CA … where he passed away:

From The New York Times: George Carlin, the Grammy-Award winning standup comedian and actor who was hailed for his irreverent social commentary, poignant observations of the absurdities of everyday life and language, and groundbreaking routines like “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,” died in Santa Monica, Calif., on Sunday, according to his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He was 71. The cause of death was heart failure. Mr. Carlin, who had a history of heart problems, went into the hospital on Sunday afternoon after complaining of heart trouble. The comedian had worked last weekend at The Orleans in Las Vegas. Recently, Mr. Carlin was named the recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. He was to receive the award at the Kennedy Center in November. “In his lengthy career as a comedian, writer, and actor, George Carlin has not only made us laugh, but he makes us think,” said Stephen A. Schwarzman, the Kennedy Center chairman. “His influence on the next generation of comics has been far-reaching.” … Despite the longevity of his career and his problematic personal life, Mr. Carlin remained one of the most original and productive comedians in show business. “It’s his lifelong affection for language and passion for truth that continue to fuel his performances,” a critic observed of the comedian when he was in his mid-60s. And Chris Albrecht, an HBO executive, said, “He is as prolific a comedian as I have witnessed.” Mr. Carlin is survived by his wife, Sally Wade; daughter Kelly Carlin McCall; son-in-law, Bob McCall, brother, Patrick Carlin and sister-in-law, Marlene Carlin. His first wife, Brenda Hosbrook, died in 1997. Although some criticized parts of his later work as too contentious, Mr. Carlin defended the material, insisting that his comedy had always been driven by an intolerance for the shortcomings of humanity and society. “Scratch any cynic,” he said, “and you’ll find a disappointed idealist.” Still, when pushed to explain the pessimism and overt spleen that had crept into his act, he quickly reaffirmed the zeal that inspired his lists of complaints and grievances. “I don’t have pet peeves,” he said, correcting the interviewer. And with a mischievous glint in his eyes, he added, “I have major, psychotic hatreds.”

From CNN: Jeff Abraham says Carlin went into St. John’s Health Center on Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55 p.m. PDT. He was 71. Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. It was announced Tuesday that Carlin was being awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The dean of counterculture comedians, Carlin constantly pushed the envelop with his jokes, particularly with a routine called “The Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV.” When Carlin uttered all seven at a show in Milwaukee in 1972, he was arrested for disturbing the peace. And when they were played on a New York radio station, they resulted in a Supreme Court ruling in 1978 upholding the government’s authority to sanction stations for broadcasting offensive language.

Despite Carlin‘s bawdy humor, there was a poignancy in his manner. His personality really showed thru in his acting performances. I remember loving him in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and in Ben Affleck‘s Jersey Girl especially (he was really the best thing about that movie). Despite his age, Carlin was one of those people you’d imagine would live forever. I’m actually very shocked by his passing. George Carlin was one of those comedians that I may not have thought about on a daily basis but always counted on being there, popping up from time to time to give a great performance, make people laugh (while prolly offending a segment of the population) and be on his way. He will be missed … comedy lost a great man in George Carlin.
