Heidi Montag Releases Her New Single ‘Fashion’

Unleashes 'Fashion' upon the world
Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Heidi Montag has released her latest single, entitled Fashion, and US Weekly has our first listen of the track — click HERE to check it out:

Spencer Pratt tells US Weekly that this song is, “the greatest song of my life.”

In an interview with Extra TV (set to air tomorrow), Heidi reveals that she didn’t really take her music seriously when she released the single and video for Higher. Speidi also reveal that they are about to launch a social networking site that will be “bigger than My Space, bigger than Facebook“:

Reality TV queen Heidi Montag revealed to “Extra” that even SHE wasn’t a fan of the music video she and boyfriend Spencer Pratt made for her song, Higher. Montag admitted, “I didn’t really like the song. My boyfriend and I shot it in ten minutes [on the beach] as a joke and put it out, but now I’m really in a studio and I’m really doing my album and music.” Pratt told “Extra” that, “We’re about to launch our social website. It’s going be bigger than My Space, bigger than Facebook.” And, they plan to use Victoria and David Beckham as role models. Montag said, “They’re [Beckhams] great with their branding, but Speidi is going take it to another level. I mean, I definitely want to surpass both of them.” Although Montag and Pratt are the couple America loves to hate, they try to ignore the negativity. Montag commented, “I think there’s people who frown upon and hate on whatever you do, but I think you have to focus on the positive.”

I must admit, I like Fashion a lot more than I liked Higher (but I think I still like her song Body Language best of all — it has Spencer Pratt rapping on it, after all). I’m really curious to hear what a full album from Heidi will sound like … it sounds like she’s on the right track with this new song. Could Heidi Montag one day rule the charts? We may very well soon find out.

Hayden Panettiere Can’t Make Up Her Mind

Can't pick a hair length
Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Hayden Panettiere may have chopped off her hair recently but that doesn’t mean that she’s finished rockin’ the fake hair weaves to make it seem as if she still has long hair. Last week, Hayden showed up at the Kira Plastinina Launch Party in LA with a full head of long (fake) hair just days after she was showing off her shorter bob haircut … and now she’s back to rockin’ the short hair again, which she did proudly at the Flex Rally 2008 charity soiree in downtown LA over the weekend. Here are a few pics of Hayden’s hair both long and short:

Honestly, I like the shorter bob. I mean, she looks amazing with long hair but she also looks amazing with the bob — plus, it’s a different look for her. I like it. It’s prolly much easier for Hayden to wear wigs with her hair cut short … which brings us to our next set of photos …

Princes William And Harry Play The Sport Of Kings

That would be 'polo' to my fellow Americans
Monday, June 23rd, 2008

After celebrating his 26th birthday by pitching a tent with his girlfriend Kate Middleton on Saturday, Prince William joined his younger brother Prince Harry for a sporting game of polo at the Grand Prix England vs South Africa charity game yesterday at the Beaufort Park Polo Club … here are a few pics:

I must say … the Princes look quite fetching in their polo pants, riding atop those galloping horses as they wield their long polo mallets. Obvs, this is the sort of game that would never really catch fire here in the States but I wouldn’t mind checking out a game or two of polo if it were readily available. I’ve always had a stogy notion of the sport as a boring and lackluster game … but seeing the young Princes take part in the game does wonders for the reputation of the sport.

Additionally, here is a really cute pic taken over the weekend of Prince Wills enjoying a group hug with some friends on his birthday on Saturday:

Looks like fun … a Royale, with cheese :)

Jessica Alba Resurfaces

Ventures out in public sans Honor
Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Jessica Alba emerged at a grocery store in Beverly Hills, CA over the weekend for the first time since giving birth to her baby daughter Honor Marie on June 7 … here are a couple pics of the new mom out and about on her own, without hubby Cash Warren or daughter Honor:

To be honest, I wouldn’t expect Jessica to be taking her newborn daughter out in public anytime soon … she’ll prolly keep the little tyke on lock-down for some time to come. Jess looks good … it’s nice seeing her out and about and looking well. I know that many new mothers are able to get back into the swing of life very soon after giving birth but I would imagine it’d be nice to take a lot of time to relax after giving birth. Er, that is, if the always hungry, endlessly crying baby would allow it. HMMM … I guess I can also see why Jessica might be anxious to get out of the house sans baby as well ;)

Reese Witherspoon Has Got The Blues …

... Brothers look
Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Reese Witherspoon was snapped doing her best John Belushi as she made her way thru LAX airport over the weekend. I suppose Reese was trying to go incognito so as not to arouse any attention but, clearly, her efforts were in vain. While this isn’t the best look I’ve ever seen on Reese, I must say I do like the Jake Gyllenhaal-lessness of her ensemble:

Incidentally and not really on point, while reading my book on my flight from LA to NYC yesterday, I tuned the TV in front of me to the Comedy Central airing of Reese’s movie Legally Blonde. Despite seeing the musical version of the story a couple of times over the past year, it’s been ages since I watched the movie. I must admit, it really holds up over time and Reese did do a great job as the original Elle Woods. Sigh … those were the days that she was happily married to Ryan Phillippe and she wasn’t putting her grubby mitts all over Jakey poo. Ah well, c’est la vie … I still don’t believe they are in love so I’m happy wallowing in my denial.

Annie Knows UR Girlfriend Hates Her

... and she don't care
Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Here is our first look at the single artwork for Norwegian electro-popstress Annie’s first single, I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me (due out July 7), which will lead off her sophomore album Don’t Stop (due out later this year):

I realize that not many of y’all know who Annie is but you really should. Check out her debut album Anniemal to get a feel for the kind of artist she is. Her music is brilliantly fun and about as infectious as aural narcotics. You can also hit up her official My Space profile to download the Get Shakes remix of her new Girlfriend single. For you passive folks, you can just click below to check out her music video …

Detroit Gets Some Well-Deserved Lovin’

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Pink reader Natalie gave me the head’s up that the Washington Post published a great little write-up on Detroit, MI in yesterday’s Travel section of their newspaper. Rather than following the herd that seems to love bashing Detroit Rock City (many times without even bothering to pay the city a visit), the Washington Post instead writes up a charming little review of the town I love so, painting a picture of the city that is so dead-on that I can’t wait to share it with all y’all:

I saw it first by night. A metropolis unveiled in viewfinder snapshots through the smudged windows of an elevated train. Gothic towers crowded close, proud detail etched on gray stone. A beaming stadium full of red-capped baseball fans, its front side left open as if to console the devoted others it couldn’t quite hold. A neon neighborhood of revelers, trying their luck with the cards and with each other. A river that bounced fractured glints of the city back toward the heavens. It was beguilingly authentic — gritty and romantic — and it was decided: I would side with Mary. Mary, the smiling lady of the hotel lobby, not Alexandro, the cab driver who brought me to her. “Is this your first time in Detroit?” Mary inquired. “You’re going to love it! It’s just like Paris.” Minutes earlier Alexandro laughed incredulously when I told him what I’d come here to find. “Happiness?” he scoffed. “I can’t really see it. Everybody’s just so miserable.” Which is what Forbes magazine said, too; the Most Miserable City in America, it claimed in a report earlier this year. “Imagine living in a city with the country’s highest rate for violent crime and the second-highest unemployment rate,” the article proposes, by way of introduction. But after riding the looping downtown train — slickly named the People Mover — and stepping into the Greektown section of the city, where I was met by saxophones singing from opposite corners and a scene that looked like the quaint, Hollywood version of a 1940s gambling town, it was over … I could be happy here. I already was.

You simply must read the rest of Ellen McCarthy’s 5-page piece on Detroit … she talks at length about the places she visited and the people she met while in Detroit. She really does Detroit very proud, which is a nice change of pace. It gets very frustrating when people continue to bash the city I love so much. Of course there are problems in Detroit but there are problems everywhere. Detroit is my home and I love it. And I love Ms. McCarthy for writing such a lovely piece on my city :)

I should also note that Pink reader Natalie also sends along the Washington Post piece on Hamburg, Germany — her home town — which is featured in the same Travel section of yesterday’s paper (she sent in both because she was born in Hamburg and her son was born in Detroit). After reading that piece, I’m reading to get my buns to Germany for a great vacay as well ;)
