Who’s All Blinged Out?

Shield your eyes and take a guess
Monday, June 16th, 2008

Can you guess which reality TV star was snapped roaming the streets of Toronto, Canada (in town for the 2008 Much Music Video Awards) over the weekend wearing a piece of jewelry that looks like it came straight from the Liberace House of Crap gift shop?

I think you may be surprised to find out who it is …

Happy Birthday, Justin Tranter

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Extra special Birthday Lurve goes out to my good friend Justin Tranter, lead singer of the fabulous NYC band Semi Precious Weapons … who turns … er, another year older today:

I met Justin at a Tori Amos live performance in New York last year and knew that we’d stay friends forever. Justin is so faboo that even Kate Moss is a fan of his. I’m not sure what Justin has planned for celebrating his birthday today but I’m sure it’s gonna be glorious … and even tho I can’t be there to party with him, I want to send out all my Birthday Lurve to him today.

Becks Is A Good Sport

Earlier this morning, we saw pics of David Beckham with his son Brooklyn Beckham at Game 5 of the NBA Finals at the Staples Center in downtown LA, last night … but here are a couple pics of Becks before he made his way to the game. Becks was snapped walking thru LAX airport while proudly wearing a LA Dodgers baseball cap … in addition to his LA Galaxy warm-up suit … as he was making his way to cheer on and support the LA Lakers at the Staples Center:

Yep, I think that David Beckham is bucking for the title of the #1 Fan of All LA Sports Teams. We’ll have to see if his devotion carries on as we move into football and then hockey season later on this year but thus far, he gets my vote.

Vicki B., our favorite little robot, was out and about this weekend doing her usual shopping … but this time she wasn’t lookin’ for brand name designer labels … no sir, she spent part of her weekend shopping for flowers at the Farmer’s Market here in LA:

Not even the beautiful sight of the lush greenery around her was able to turn her frown upside down. And get this … VB wasn’t merely shopping for flowers this weekend … she was also spied shopping for used items — at a flea market!!!

::Insert pause for those of you who need time to recover from your fainting spell::

My friends Steph and Alek stumbled upon VB and her peeps shopping at the flea market on the corner of Melrose and Fairfax and nearly got into a tussle with her well coordinated bodyguard staff. Head on over to OhLaLaMag.com to read their harrowing tongue-in-cheek account and check out a couple pics they were able to snap of Posh slumming with the commoners.

Stan Winston Dies At 62

Monday, June 16th, 2008

More sad news today … Stan Winston, the special effects genius responsible for delighting movie goers in so many movies (far too many to list … but Aliens, Terminator 2, Batman Returns, Jurassic Park, Predator, Edward Scissorhands are just a few), passed away last night at the age of 62 due to complications with multiple myeloma:

Hollywood special-effects maestro Stan Winston has died at age 62. The Oscar-winning visual effects artist died at his home Sunday evening surrounded by family after a seven-year struggle with multiple myeloma, according to a representative from Stan Winston Studio. Winston won visual effects Oscars for 1986’s “Aliens, “1992’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and 1993’s “Jurassic Park.” Winston is survived by his wife, Karen; a son, daughter, brother and four grandchildren.

Of course this is incredibly sad news but I’m still not sure people truly understand what an important genius Stan Winston was. His creativity and inventiveness provided countless movie fans with realistic and sometimes horrifying aliens, creatures and monsters for many, many years. His mark on Hollywood will forever be indelible and he is sure to be missed by all of his countless fans. My condolences go out to his family … this is just such sad news :(

Pool Boys

The TV Guide
Monday, June 16th, 2008

So … yesterday was way more chill for me than Saturday was. After stressing out for 90% of Saturday, I decided to just try and relax and enjoy as much of Sunday as I could. Sadly, Sarah jetted off back home to Detroit early in the morning (and had arrived back in Detroit before I was even finished blogging for the day) but thankfully David is still here in LA with me for a couple more days. Because I had embroiled him in my tech drama on Sat., he wanted to get to the gym yesterday … so while he was workin’ on his fitness, I went over to Steph and Alek’s place to vent about my tech woes … as we cooled our feet in their amazing pool:

Since they have to contend with their own tech probs they were the perfect sounding board for me to talk to. I have to say … I just love all of my friends. I know the most amazing people and I feel very fortunate to be able to count them among my friends. Anyways … David finished up at the gym and met up with us for dinner at Fat Fish in West Hollywood, CA (S&A’s fave sushi place) … and that was pretty much our night. We managed to fit in watching the Tony Awards and portions of the NBA Finals and then conked out for the night.

This afternoon, we have a meeting with the tech folks to try and clear up some of the website issues and then … not sure what will come after that. At least I have David with me so it doesn’t really matter what we do … it’s gonna be great :)
