Mrs. Dogg Busted For DUI

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Shante Broadus, the wife of rapper Snoop Dogg, was arrested in Fullerton, CA early this morning (approx. 12:15AM PT) on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Because no bail needed for DUI arrests in Fullerton, Mrs. Dogg was released with only a citation … but not before she was mugshotted:

FULLERTON The wife of rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early this morning, police said. Shante Broadus, 32, of Sherman Oaks, was pulled over near the intersection of Highland and Orangethorpe avenues at 12:15 a.m., said Lt. Craig Brower. Police then arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, he said. Information about her blood alcohol level or test results was not available.

Oh snap! You may recall that her hubby, the illustrious Mr. Snoop Dogg, was recently busted for illegal possession of a dangerous weapon when he walked through security at John Wayne Airport in September 2006 … he was sentenced to 160 hours of community service after pleading guilty. HMM … I guess the family that breaks the law and gets busted together, stays together.

They’re My Tech Probs, I’ll Cry If I Want To

The TV Guide

Ugh. It’s been a rough morning/day/afternoon. I got really sidetracked with the huge error that sprung up overnight (which is why posting is so late today) and I ended up devoting much of my time today to trying to figure out what went wrong. As best as I can tell, there is a problem in the page code that may be conflicting with You Tube vids (like the one I posted last night/early this morning). It caused a fatal error for Internet Explorer users and that is unacceptable. There is also a problem of items from the right sidebar (widgets) disappearing all on their own. Fun! OY! I’m so not good with tech problems … my stress level has been thru the roof today. I anticipated that there would be tech issues (there are *always* tech issues no matter what) but I tend to freak out when they rear their ugly heads. The probs haven’t been resolved but they’re on the list of things that need to get taken care of. Again, I say UGH!

Yesterday was a great day tho … I was happily giddy that the site was functioning perfectly (well, as perfectly as it could until the little snafu early this morning) so I was ready to share my happiness with my friends. A bunch of us met up for dinner at Rumbutan in Silver Lake (after Sarah, Adriana and I did some shopping in the area beforehand). We planned on seeing The Incredible Hulk but all showings were sold out … we ended up crashing in on Steph and Alek at their place for a night of drinkin’ and talkin’. It was really very chill, very relaxing.

I’ve no idea what the plan is for today … I’m still stressin’ the tech shizz but I’m gonna try and get out and away from the computer (after I finish the day’s work) to get my mind off of things. Again, if there are things wrong with the site, let me know … I’m anxious to get the probs fixed and have the site PERFECT AGAIN as soon as possible :)

On The Road Again

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Lance Armstrong squeezed his biz back inside his tight little spandex shorts and got back on his bike to raise money for cancer research in Toronto, Canada today. Here are a couple pics of Lance from today’s ride that made its way thru parts of Canada earlier today:

The seven time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor will be cycling the back roads of the [Waterloo] region along about 40 select riders. Those riders will be paying for the privilege. The registration fee is $1,500 and participants need to raise at least $25,000. RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie is one of them, he’s raised 35-thousand in pledges already. Ian Cook of Cook Homes will also be riding along. He tells 570 News, he decided to join because it’s a good cause and a rare opportunity. Today’s event will benefit the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and the Odette Cancer Centre at Toronto’s Sunnybrook hospital.

I had forgotten how well Lance fills out those spandex tighties … it’s been ages since I’ve seen him on top of anything other than Kate Hudson. Remember the summer that the Trifecta comprised of Lance Armstrong, Jake Gyllenhaal and Matthew McConaughey spent so much time in spandex outfits, going for bike rides all over SoCal, raisin’ hell along the way? Ahh … those were some good times. Now, Matthew can’t even be bothered to work-out shirtless anymore, Jake will no longer dream of scratching his butt without Reese Witherspoon’s approval and Lance, well, at least Lance is back in the spandex … and for such a good cause! I can see how it’s totally worth donating $1,500 bucks for cancer research just to ride with Lance Armstrong. Good for him for using his spandex for such a good cause.

R.I.P. M.I.A.???

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

The amazing musician M.I.A. performed on Day 2 of the 2008 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN yesterday … and announced that it was her “last gig”. Uh, yeah. When I first read the report from The New York Times, I assumed that M.I.A. meant this was her last US show or her last show on this tour. Upon a closer reading of this report, it now appears that M.I.A. was announcing to the world that she is retiring from performing. Here are a few pics from her supposed “last show”:

“This is my last show,” the rapper M.I.A. announced from the stage of That Tent, “and I’m glad I’m spending it with all my hippies.” If, as she announced at least three times, it was M.I.A.’s last gig ever, she went out with a boom. The seismic riffs of her songs, which sound like they’re made on the world’s cheapest equipment, puffed bass notes at everyone’s chest, and M.I.A. was all of her interlocking selves: fighter, lover, immigrant, instigator, party girl. Wearing an outfit that included shiny streamers as tails, she shook every part of her body sooner or later, yelping her hooks and spitting out her rhymes, dense with allusions and snappy enough for slogans. She brought “girls” and then “boys” onstage, surrounding herself with happy dancers, and brought the Nigerian rapper African Boy onstage for her encores, rapping about how immigrants have to hustle. For her finale, “Paper Planes,” the audience that spilled far outside the tent pumped fists happily at the gunshot sounds that are also one of the song’s hooks. “Thanks for coming to my last gig,” she said, amid noise that continued well after she was gone.

Now, I simply refuse to believe that yesterday’s performance at Bonnaroo was M.I.A.’s final performance ever — whether I’m in denial or part of me just can’t believe that she would stop putting on the live performances that she seems to love so much, I just refuse to accept it. That being said … if she really did just peace out on live performances, I PRAY that doesn’t mean that she will stop making music altogether … cuz, I’ll just flip my shizz. M.I.A. has to be one of the most electric and inventive music makers around right now and it would be a travesty if she stopped making music after only 2 albums. I’m hoping that she was either just playing around yesterday or she misspoke. Time will tell if M.I.A. the musician is really dunzo for good … I hope she was just messin’ around.
