Christian Bale, star of the new Batman sequel The Dark Knight and all around hawt piece, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of the Singapore edition of Arena magazine … check it out:

While I generally love my Christian Bale all dressed up in his rubber Batman suit (well, actually, I prefer him all dressed down in his birthday suit … but I’m getting off topic), I think he looks pretty damn good when he’s wearing a nice designer suit. Christian is all kinds of hawt and I love posting pics of him … so enjoy!!

I updated today’s newslinks with the sad news that Tim Russert, revered journalist and host of NBC‘s Meet the Press, passed away today after suffering a sudden heart attack and collapsing while he was at work in at the NBC Studios in Washington DC. CNN posted a touching report complete with eulogistic quotes from some of his admirers … which I feel inspired to share with all y’all:

Tim Russert, who became one of America’s leading political journalists as the host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” died Friday, according to the network. He was 58. The network said he collapsed at work Friday. He was taken to Washington’s Sibley Memorial Hospital where he died, the hospital confirmed. Colleague and former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw broke the news on the network Friday shortly after 3:40 p.m., saying Russert had just returned from a family vacation in Italy to celebrate the graduation of his son, Luke, from Boston College. President Bush on Friday expressed sorrow over Russert’s death and admiration for his professionalism. “He was an institution in both news and politics for more than two decades. Tim was a tough and hardworking newsman. He was always well-informed and thorough in his interviews. And he was as gregarious off the set as he was prepared on it,” Bush said in a statement Friday. “Most important, Tim was a proud son and father, and Laura and I offer our deepest sympathies to his wife, Maureen, his son, Luke, and the entire Russert family,” he said. Sen. Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic nominee for president, said he had known Russert since Obama spoke at the party convention in 2004. “There wasn’t a better interviewer in television,” he said. Sen. John McCain, set to be Obama’s Republican opponent in the fall, issued a statement saying he was very saddened by the news. “He was truly a great American who loved his family, his friends, his Buffalo Bills and everything about politics and America. He was just a terrific guy,” McCain said of Russert. Russert joined the network in 1984 and quickly established himself as the face of the network’s political coverage, eventually becoming senior vice president and Washington bureau chief of NBC news. In 1985, Russert supervised live broadcasts of the “Today” show from Rome, negotiating an appearance by Pope John Paul II — a first for American television. Russert, who also served as a political analyst for cable network MSNBC, took the helm of “Meet the Press” in 1991, turning the long-running Sunday-morning interview program into the most-watched show of its kind in the United States. “I think I can invoke personal privilege and say this news division will not be the same without his strong, clear voice,” Brokaw said Friday. “He will be missed as he was loved — greatly.” Washingtonian Magazine once dubbed Russert the best and most influential journalist in Washington, describing “Meet the Press” as “the most interesting and important hour on television.” He was also the recipient of numerous awards for his work, including an Emmy in 2005 for his coverage of the funeral of President Ronald Reagan. In 2008, TIME magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world … Russert was the longest-running host of “Meet the Press” in its 60-year history. Brokaw described him as a political junkie who had thrown himself into his work during this year’s presidential contest. “This was one of the most important years of Tim’s life for many reasons,” Brokaw said. “He loved this political campaign. He worked himself to the point of exhaustion many weeks.”

I can’t think of one disparaging remark that I have ever heard about Tim Russert. He was well liked by pretty much everyone. He reported the news in a careful, thoughtful and intelligent way and was seen by pretty much everyone in politics as absolutely fair-minded. He was deffo one of the most influential news agents in politics and was one of my fave political commentators. Our country lost a great man today. My condolences go out to his family. He will be sorely missed.

There is new word that Heidi Klum has sold her Greenwich Village apartment in NYC right around the time that she gave an interview to Forbes.com about the changes that are being planned for future seasons of Project Runway (ie. when the show moves to Lifetime from Bravo later on this year). According to Heidi, the show will get a bit of a “facelift” when it “moves to LA”. She goes on to give other comments that make it seem like the show will be moving there full-time and not part-time like we were led to believe earlier this year:

As Forbes’s 78th most powerful celebrity on its new list of the 100 most powerful celebrities, Heidi Klum discusses her career in a video on Forbes.com. In doing so, she spills some details about what Project Runway will really be like when it moves to Lifetime. “The concept will be the same,” she says. But! “It will have, definitely, a face-lift. The look of the show will change a little bit.” Oh, God, we can see the pink graphics already. She also said they might add some “different catch phrases,” which we’d welcome with open arms, since, as much as we love Tim Gunn, we’ve been ready to put “make it work” in the compost heap for years. Klum adds the show won’t be shot at Parsons, since they’ll be in L.A. Now we understood only half of the show would be shot in L.A. But Klum makes it sound like every runway scene will be shot in L.A., which would be the entire season, no? “It will have a Hollywood flair,” she says. Oh, gag.

See, I’m not willing to take the fatalist viewpoint and automatically assume that the show will turn to horse shizz just because it’s moving to LA. I’m concerned that too many changes (no matter where it’s shot) will turn off viewers and may put the show in jeopardy. There is one final season of the show set to air on Bravo starting next month and then the new (and improved?) Project Runway moves to Lifetime and debuts in November. It really sounds like the show is moving to LA full-time … despite the fact that people were spinning this huge change by saying it will be partly shot in NYC partly shot in LA. Heidi has a bad habit of letting the cat out of the bag too early and she did just sell her NYC home … it kinda feels like PR is really moving the whole kit and caboodle here to SoCal. I’m reserving judgment … surely they won’t totally destroy my fave competitive reality TV show … will they?

R. Kelly has just been found not guilty of the 14 counts of child pornography brought against him, ending a 6-year ordeal that has plagued the singer ever since a video tape surfaced that allegedly showed Kelly engaged in graphic sex acts with an underage girl (it was believed she was as young as 13 at the time). Now, after all this time, R. Kelly has been vindicated against these charges:

R. Kelly was acquitted of all charges Friday after less than a day of deliberations in his child pornography trial, ending a six-year ordeal for the R&B superstar. Kelly dabbed his face with a handkerchief and hugged each of his four attorneys after the verdict — not guilty on all 14 counts — was read. The Grammy award-winning singer had faced 15 years in prison if convicted. Minutes later, surrounded by bodyguards, he left the courthouse without comment. Dozens of fans screamed and cheered as he climbed into a waiting SUV. Prosecutors had argued that a video tape mailed to the Chicago Sun-Times in 2002 showed Kelly engaged in graphic sex acts with a girl as young as 13 at the time. Both Kelly, 41, and the now 23-year-old alleged victim had denied they were the ones on the tape. Neither testified during the trial. The prosecution’s star witness was a woman who said she engaged in three-way sex with Kelly and the alleged victim. Defense attorneys argued the man on the tape didn’t have a large mole on his back; Kelly has such a mole. The monthlong trial centered on whether Kelly was the man who appears on a sexually graphic, 27-minute videotape at the heart of the case, and whether a female who also appears on it was underage. Over seven days presenting their case, prosecutors called 22 witnesses, including several childhood friends of the alleged victim and four of her relatives who identified her as the female on the video. In just two days, Kelly’s lawyers called 12 witnesses. They included three relatives of the alleged victim who testified they did not recognize her as the female on the tape.

Yeesh! I cannot believe this thing is finally over. We’ve been hearing about this video tape and these charges against R. Kelly for what seems like EVER and at last he has been found not guilty. You know, at first I totally believed that he was the dude in the video (and he may have been, the prosecution may just not have been able to prove it) but over time, as Kelly remained steadfast that he was innocent my opinion started to change. It just goes to show that public opinion should never have a bearing on matters of law and jurisprudence. Just because you may think someone is guilty doesn’t mean it is so. Congrats to R. Kelly on his vindication. Now, hopefully, he can get his ass back in the studio to record some more volumes of the Trapped In A Closet opus I love so much.

Woot! We are well into Day 2 of the Pink is the new Blog relaunch and things have been coming along so smoothly I can barely believe it. I am so happy with the way the site looks and has been functioning. Thanks to a few comments from readers, little tweaks and changes have already been implemented. I still have a bit of a learning curve to get over as I work with Word Press but I’m sure I’ll get into the swing of things in no time. David has been amazing about helping me with every little question I have. I thank the Gods that he’s been here with me this week.

London must be where it’s at cuz quite a few celebs have made their way over to the other side of the pond in recent weeks. Chace Crawford has been spending some alone time there lately as well. I’m not entirely sure what brings David to Londontown but hopefully he’s able to enjoy some of the city without having to do too much work. It’s such a shame that I never got into his latest TV show Bones. I really tried to jump on board when it debuted a few years ago but … nope, it never took. Ah well … he’s still lookin’ good … coming AND going.

Well now … what have we here? Britney Spears, with her father and conservator Jamie Spears not far behind, was spied boarding a private jet bound for Las Vegas. Brit‘s most recent personal assistant was also along for the ride (sidebar: kudos to her for hanging in there with Britney and for lasting longer than the few shitty assistants that Britney employed last year –Shannon Funk and Carla Ruiz, I’m talking to you) for what can be assumed will be a fun weekend in Sin City … here are a few pics of Brit and her entourage at the airport yesterday:

Incidentally, Kevin Federline was also spied making preparations for a trip to Las Vegas for this weekend. K-Fed was snapped with his homies packing up his car for the trip:

It’s unclear if The Federline and his dawgs will be driving the whole way to Vegas or if they were merely making their way to the airport as well. It’s also unclear if there will be any sort of Spederline reunion going down in Vegas this weekend. I understand the kiddies, Sean Preston and Jayden James, were left at home (not sure with who, tho, Papa Jamie is going to Vegas with Brit and I believe Mama Lynne Spears is back in Kentwood, LA) … could a reconciliation be in the works? I’m not sure it’ll be quite that blatant but it does seem odd that both Brit and Kevin are headed for Vegas for the same weekend … sans kids. I’m gonna hafta keep my eye on this one.
