A new report by In Touch Weekly magazine claims that Britney Spears and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte are “dating”. More specifically, the mag cites a “source” that claims that the couple have “been on a few dates” and that Britney “appears to like Benji a lot”. While this is news that I would wholeheartedly embrace and wish were true actually sounds like a whole lotta horsepucky to me. Nonetheless, here are portions of this new report by In Touch:
Britney Spears reportedly has a new man in her life, and the lucky boy is Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden. The pair have apparently been dating since Madden split with Paris Hilton a few weeks ago, and were reportedly introduced by Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph, who has been helping her find a man. A source told In Touch Weekly that Spears and Madden met for dinner at a Los Angeles hotel suite, after Rudolph and Spears’ father Jamie made a list of potential boyfriends for the singer. “They’ve been on a few dates. She appears to like Benji a lot, and he seems to really like her,” the unidentified source said. Rudolph also reportedly called Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, and ‘Gossip Girl’ actor Chace Crawford, but Madden was the most interested in meeting Britney. Spears recently announced a string of dates to promote her current album ‘Circus’.
Blah … this report is so full of inaccuracies that it can’t possibly be true. Absent the fact that our dear Britney can’t even blow her nose without a photo snapping a pic, when would Britney or Benji have the time for dates? Britney has been out of the country or hangin’ with Ellen DeGeneres for most of the past month or so. Tho, I must admit … it would be kinda awesome of these two did hook-up. Britney needs a nice man in her life and I can’t think of a nicer man than Benji Madden. I think they’d made a hella cute couple … it’s a shame that this fantansy will prolly never come to be.

I LOVE Good Charlotte…and I think the lyric was “Christina wouldn’t wanna meet her, she hates you Britney so you better run for cover.” Being that Benji had a pretty open crush on Christina for a long time, I’ve always regarded it as just a song. However, I do think that Joel and Benji’s fame has taught them how it feels to be in Britney’s position with the media prying and making things appear the way that they want them to. I’m sure they’ve let go of some of the stereotypes and misconceptions they may have held before they were able to get to know these people on a personal level. Also, a lot of people who may not have had any respect for Britney a few years ago have gained respect for her recently. She has put her imperfections out for public viewing, whether she was forced to through a mental breakdown or not, and she’s still on top. I think most people would commend her for her recent progress.
I’ve always been a Good Charlotte supporter and met the band lots of times, but seriously, the Madden twins are now more famous for all the women they’ve dated than for their music and I can’t believe how many people I’ve met in the music biz who never even knew that they also have their own clothing line (DCMA Collective) which is successful! Benji needs to move on and find a girl who isn’t in the public eye. For Benji to even think of getting hooked up with Britney would be another shambles. She must be the most unstable pop “singer” on the planet. She used to be good, but now she’s reduced to therapy sessions, two nannies for her sons, lip-synching for her “performances”, diva-like antics and an unnecessary huge entourage who treat her like she’s fucking royalty. Get a life! and get REAL!
…but I still think Benji should have some fun and sleep with Britney, there’s no harm in being a little bit evil now and then!

But in all reality, I think Larry and daddy are trying to move Britney away from the image she undertook when hanging out panty-less with Paris a couple of years ago. So I doubt they would invite the inevitable headlines about ‘Britney the backstabber’ by encouraging a date with Benji.

IF Benji is dating Britney I sincerely wish him all the best and hope that he’s happy. Nobody knows where a relationship will take them so I wish him and Britney all the luck in the world. If this IS true, Britney would have a boyfriend who would look out for her best interest and be supportive and not into the material things that some of her past boyfriends were after.
